When I proposed the idea of a destination engagement session to Samantha & Lukas I really didn’t know what to expect. And to be completely honest, the idea was a bit crazy. Instead of the usual hour-long engagement session I typically include in my wedding collections, I wanted to spend three days, nearly 20 hours in the car, traveling over 1,000 miles and photographing in locations all over the Michigan coastline. But as crazy as the idea was, Samantha & Lukas immediately jumped at the suggestion and I quickly got to work planning the trip, the locations we’d explore, and the general aesthetic I wanted to convey through the photos we’d take. I had big plans for this trip and pretty high expectations for how everything would turn out, especially since Lukas has been one of my best friends for years (I’m the best man in his wedding next summer, WHOOP!) and his fiancé Samantha and I have crazy similar personalities – I knew we were going all to have an amazing time together. But despite my high expectations going in, nothing could really have prepared me for how unbelievably perfect this trip was. Spending three days with these two was a total honor and getting to explore one amazing location after another had me in my element both personally and creatively –this trip was a total dream. I have so much love for these two, what their friendship means to me, and of course their willingness oblige my crazy ideas. Such a privilege to have shared in their journey thus far and I can’t wait to see what’s in store for the future. Cheers!
