Downtown Grand Rapids, MI: Winter Engagement
Elisabeth and Daniel’s engagement session in downtown Grand Rapids, Michigan ticked all the boxes for this stylish couple! Elisabeth and Daniel desired their engagement photo session to exhibit style, hints of fashion, timelessness and formality. We captured all these desires those special candid moments.
Downtown Grand Rapids is Michigan’s second largest city. Combining all the amenities of metropolitan living with the warmth of a friendly small town. There are hundreds of restaurants, many museums and plenty of shops. The performance venues and first-rate hotels are all within a comfortable 10-minute walk. Just a short drive away and you will find additional dining, outdoor recreation and entertainment.
This engagement session style reminded me of the photos you see in a Vogue magazine. Elisabeth and Daniel were a fun and very photogenic couple.
Elisabeth’s sibling had the ultimate hand in getting this couple together. Her brother happened to be one of Daniel’s closest friends and introduced them to each other. They fell in love, persevered and flourished over long distance and now are engaged. Elisabeth and Daniel are a laid back, social and active couple. This combination made Elisabeth and Daniel perfect for capturing these relaxed, adventurous and romantic engagement photos.
This stylish Engagement session began in front of the limestone pillars of the neo-classical 1932 Welsh Auditorium. It is located at the end of Lyon Street, in Grand Rapids, MI. All that remains of the original building is the beautiful art deco façade and interior lobby.
Elisabeth looked sophisticated in a white, long-sleeved wrap around mini dress, classic white coat and stunning white strappy stilettos. Daniel wore a black suit, black shirt and black leather shoes. The Indiana limestone pillars, and steps of the Auditorium were an excellent backdrop for their initial set of engagement photos.
Next, the happy couple changed into white Nikes and had engagement photos taken in front of the Fulton Street Bridge. Melting snow and glimpses of the river can be seen in the background of the winter portraits. Elisabeth changed into white mid-length boots and Daniel wore black steel caped ankle boots. On this cold, yet beautiful winters day, I was privileged to shoot timeless and classic photos. Highlighting the genuine love and joy this couple have for each other is what I am most passionate.
Excellent photo session locations in Grand Rapids include a walk down local neighborhood streets and in front of a large wooden ornate door. The stone steps of an old heritage building with its ornate iron and wooden door was the backdrop for some more stunning engagement photos.
Every season offers something different in downtown Grand Rapids, MI. Winter offers the ‘World of Winter Festival’, unique outdoor dining and dazzling night lights. Spring sees in the ‘West Michigan Home & Garden Show’, ‘Cottage & Lakefront Living Show’ and many other shows. Summer means al fresco dining, outdoor concerts and the ‘Festival of Arts’. Fall welcomes the salmon and the steelhead fish to downtown Grand River. Don’t forget the International Wine, Beer & Food festival as well.
The Downtown Ambassador Team roams around in their distinct teal and blue uniforms, seven days a week. They are ready and willing to give you directions, dining advice or information about events.
After reading about the above attractions, is it any wonder that Elisabeth and Daniel chose such a charming and welcoming city for their engagement photos.
