Welcome to an absolutely gorgeous summer wedding.
Firstly, let me set the scene for this delightful couple’s love-story! Hailey and Colin met at Grand Valley State University at Cru, Grand Rapids, Michigan. A Christian community of university students, who simply want to experience more of God.
They have been together for a little over 3 years after first laying eyes on each other while playing volleyball on campus. Hailey and Colin’s ideal date night is either ‘Culvers’ for a delicious burger and parfait, or tacos by the sea while watching the sunset. That’s how chilled out this perfectly suited couple are.
Colin and Hailey’s dream wedding day was for their wedding photographer to help them feel natural and comfortable in front of the lens. To be honest it was pretty easy. Their super relaxed and casual personalities naturally flowed over into their wedding day photos. Wedding photography/videography is my passion! My heart is to always produce quality, raw and authentic portraits. The wedding album should read like a storybook, true to the bridal couple’s personalities and unique love story.
Not long ago, I shot Hailey and Colin’s urban vibe engagement photo session in downtown Grand Rapids. They wanted something completely different for their wedding day photos. Fresh air, natural landscape, and plenty of sunshine in an open-air ceremony. Such romance! Lakeside vows declaring “I DO” underneath a floral laden wooden arbour.
Guests were seated either side of the pathway as the beautiful bridal couple walked into their new lives together. Colin and Hailey desired their guests see that the foundation of their marriage was being built on their faith in God and their deep love for each other. Their wedding day accomplished all this and more.
They made sure to include all their favourite things in their special summer wedding day in Grand Rapids, Michigan. What a lovely surprise the guests had when the ice-cream van pulled up. Full of delicious treats of various scrumptious flavours of ice cream. Who does not love hand-crafted ice-dream direct from the van!
Address: Grant Pavilion, 1400 Maynard Avenue, Grand Rapids, Michigan
Millennium Park has over 1,400 acres of picturesque landscapes. The Grant Pavilion is perfect for your reception and ceremony. Water views are spectacular, overlooking the lake with its large open air pavilion under a large ornate roof.
The bridal party got dressed at separate locations and then met at Millennium Park by the lake for some stunning individual and bridal party photos. Hailey gracefully walked down the path to meet Colin, for a first look, beside the tranquil waters of the still lake. They both read out their own personally written vows to each other amongst the rustling of the trees.
After the first look by the lake the bridal couple moved to the open-air, lakeside ceremony in front of the Grant Pavilion. Underneath the Pavilion the speeches, cake cutting, and delicious BBQ reception was experienced by the guests. Followed by the ice-cream van I mentioned earlier, there was lots of dancing and loads of laughter. I am sure that we ticked off every one of the items on Hailey and Colin’s wedding day wish list.
Hailey looked absolutely stunning! She wore a floor length, flowing wedding gown with its lace bodice showing off a beautiful illusion “V” neckline. Her hair was swept into a low bun, fastened by a jewelled hair clip and soft tendrils framed her face. Hailey was a radiant and photogenic bride. Her only accessories were small diamond earrings and a delicate diamond necklace.
Hailey also had on her wrist, a gold and pearl bracelet that was also worn by her two flower girls. Top this off with her beautiful heart shaped bouquet, full of light pink and white roses and seasonal flowers and you have a wedding photographer’s delight. Hailey was attended by her seven bridesmaids dressed in their stunning jade green dresses – each with its own unique style.
Colin wore a black suit with a white dress shirt, a white tie, and black shoes.
To culminate this perfect and wonderful day, Hailey and Colin left the reception underneath a tunnel of scintillating gold sparks from the sparklers held by their guests. After Colin and Hailey had one last kiss, they waved good-bye and drove off into their future as husband and wife.
