Last summer, my best friend Lukas got married and asked me to both stand in AND photograph his wedding. Call me an overachiever (and in hindsight it was a little crazy, to be fair) but I jumped at the chance and gladly said yes to spending the entire day enjoying and documenting the moments as he married the love of his life at their stunningly gorgeous West Michigan garden wedding.
One of the things I’ve always appreciated so much about Samantha and Lukas is the clear and obvious love they have for each other and their exuberance at getting married and spending life together. This joy set the foundation for an absolutely beautiful day together, from our first moments together making coffee in their apartment to the final cheers of their sparkler sendoff, our day together was full of love, joy, emotion, excitement, and friendship.
Getting to spend the day alongside these two awesome people was incredible, but getting to be the eye through which their wedding moments were preserved on camera was absolutely priceless. There’s nothing I love more than documenting the stories of the couples I work with and so to be able to document all of the love and joy of this special day was a memory I will never forget. The moments we captured together display the unbridled love that Samantha and Lukas have for each other as well as the carefree and relaxed nature of their entire wedding day.
While it may have been a bit crazy to run around with a camera the entire day as well as prepping a best man speech (oh right, did I mention I was the best man?) and helping coordinate the schedule, the ability it gave me to simply interject myself into the unfolding moments of the day was an experience I’ll never forget and I can’t wait to continue capturing life with these two awesome people through the many more moments I know we’ll have together in the future.
